From 2nd to 26th April 2025, you might never have a better opportunity to see such a generous selection of Elie Lambert’s finest art under one roof, as Osborne Studio Gallery is hosting an utterly unmissable exhibition of his life’s work. We’re so thrilled to see this wonderful artist – an artist whose works illuminate The Milestone’s very own Stables Bar – get the attention he richly deserves.
Elie Lambert (1949–2024) was a Belgian-born artist renowned for his vibrant depictions of horse racing and equestrian life. Born in Brussels and raised by his mother who managed a brasserie with his stepfather, a lightweight boxing champion, Lambert's early life was steeped in the world of horses. He began riding at a young age and was introduced to the racing world by the Vicomtesse d’Hendecourt. His passion for art led him to the Brussels Art Academy, where he honed his skills as a painter.
Throughout his multifaceted career, Lambert wore many hats: gentleman jockey, bloodstock agent, journalist, and antique dealer. His deep understanding of the racing world informed his artistic vision, leading to a unique style that combined a playful approach with a keen eye for detail. Influenced by artists like Pablo Picasso and David Hockney, Lambert sought to evoke joy and energy through his work, often depicting horses without saddles or bridles to emphasise their natural beauty.

Lambert's art is characterized by its lively colours and dynamic compositions, capturing the essence of horse racing and the vibrant atmosphere of racecourses. His paintings invite viewers to experience the thrill and elegance of the sport, reflecting his lifelong passion and deep connection to the equestrian world.
In 2004, Lambert's paintings caught the attention of Christie’s, where they exceeded expectations at auction. This success led to a lasting relationship with the auction house and increased recognition in the art world.
Whilst his works have been exhibited right across the globe, London’s Osborne Studio Gallery has served as their regular home over the years, and we’re delighted to see them showcased there right now. For an even fuller immersion, why not combine the exhibition with a trip to Stables Bar, where you can enjoy mouthwatering bar snacks and cocktails, and spend the whole day in the company of his greatness.
